Official: Russia to respond if Google continues to break law

MOSCOW, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- If Google keeps violating Russian laws, an appropriate response will follow and it may be not public, Andrei Klimov, head of the committee on state sovereignty protection at the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament, said on Thursday.

“We hope Google would take its chance and would not commit any illegal actions on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Klimov said.

If the U.S. giant persist in breaking law, “other measures will follow with an appropriate reaction that could not be public at all,” he said.

Google earlier received letters from local authorities on inadmissibility of placing information about unsanctioned campaigns in Russia on the single elections day, on Sunday, on the company’s resources. The communications service said it is in a constant dialogue with Google on the matter.
